Using a consultant to control communications costs isn't always
the best option, but it is the right choice for your company
if...
- Your internal communications staff is swamped with routine
support and cannot set aside large blocks of time to manage
one-time projects like audits and contract negotiations
- You've had turnover in your communications staff and lost
some institutional memory about how you got here and what
was planned for the future
- Your staff has a lot of user experience, but not as much
carrier experience.
- You've tried for months to do something about costs, but
can never seem to get the project moving.
- You believe you are paying good rates for service, but
have some nagging doubts.
When Choosing a Consultant...
- Make sure your consultant is completely independent, not
hiding agency agreements with one or more carriers (we call
them "Secret Agents").
- No matter how big the firm, a small number of people will
support your project. Large consulting firms and the "Big
6" firms have bright, energetic staffs, but little
Telcom experience and very little "inside knowledge".
You should ensure that they have the experience in telecommunications
and consulting that you need.
- Check references for post-project follow-up and support.
You need a consulting team that will continue to support
you without the "nickel and dime" approach.
